Eid Inspirational Looks from Pakistani Celebrities

    0

Each Eid-ul-Fitr fans across the globe wait for their favorite celebrities to post pictures on their social media pages. Not only do the celebrities give us major inspirations but also introduce us to new artistic designers.

This year was no different. All the Pakistani crème de la crème celebs draped themselves in outstanding, eye catching and ravishing outfits and we are drooling over all the looks. Lets gear up for Eid-ul-Adha and get some ideas for choosing color palates, complimenting color combos and accessorizing the outfits.

    Saba Qamar

Saba Qamar truly looked regal in her pure white lehnga in Umsha by Uzma Babar. Not only does the golden detailing of kiran lace look traditional, but the plainness of the outfit makes it look stylish and classy. Indeed, it is the perfect color palate for summers.

    Yumna Zaidi

I think pishwas is the talk of the town this season. Don’t you all agree too? Indeed, a flowing Pishwas gives off a formal appeal and it is ideal of festive occasions like Eid. Yumna Zaidi decided to drape herself in a stunning outfit by Kanwal Malik. The tea pink pishwas looks cool and breezy with dull-gold handwork detail added to it. Moreover, Yumna wore beautiful traditional golden round earrings and we are in love with the look.

    Mawra Hoccane

While it appears yellow in pictures, the Asim Jofa 3-piece outfit is Dhaani green. Interestingly the material is chanderi cotton and it speaks for itself as it has delicate embroidery in ivory colored thread with hints of gold lurex. Doesn’t she look pretty in this unique color?

    Maya Ali

Maya Ali brightened up the Eid festivities with her gorgeous Mohsin Naveed Ranjha outfit. The star wore a custom-made black monochrome gharara and short shirt with a black net dupatta. In addition, the print looked beautiful and the delicate embellishments made the outfit look out of this world.

    Hania Amir

Hania Amir has to be the cutest star in the Pakistani Media Industry. She is bubbly, witty and adorable. This year Faiza Saqlain was Hania’s pick. Interestingly, she chose Saeela from the Luxe Pret collection. Saeela boasts of beautiful silhouettes, designed in a traditional way. Interestingly the regal styled lilac colored pishwas is embellished with Mukesh. It pairs with an embroidered Mukesh dupatta and a churidar pyjama.

    Ayeza Khan

Ayeza Khan is smart, beautiful and always chooses her ensembles wisely. This Eid ul Fitr she draped in an exquisite summery yellow dress by Farah Talib Aziz. Apparently, she chose Ray Kalidaar organza frock with colorful embroidery on top. The outfit also included naqshi, sitara and pearl embellishments.

    Sarah Khan

Interestingly, unlike all other celebrities, Sarah Khan chose to drape a Saree. Not only did she look unique, but the beautiful white and black subtle combo with a hint of pink looks gorgeous. Moreover, she paired the Saree with nicely blow-dried hair and her gold jewelry. In my opinion, she looks different, beautiful and very classy.

    Aiman and Minal

We all know how sweet the star twins are. While Aiman Khan chose to wear an Asim Jofa ensemble, Minal Khan wore Annus Abrar. Aiman’s full length cherry red gown is seen embellished with gold thread embroidery work with hints of dark green.

As for Minal, her Viah Kalidaar organza khadi silk ensemble was paired with zardozi, pearl and dabka details. The duo looked fabulous standing with their husbands and partying happily, enjoying the spirit of Eid.

    Sunita Marshal

Sunita Marshal decided to go simple this eid in a pretty, subtle off-white outfit with self-colored embroidery with hints of pink. The long sleeveless shirt paired with bell bottom pants looks nice. On the other hand, her husband Hassan Ahmed wore a grey-blue shalwar kameez and the children wore different shades of blue. Such a cute family.

    Sadaf Kanwal

The queen of the fashion industry, Sadaf Kanwal needs no introduction when it comes to styling clothes, walking the ramp and making a statement. Apparently, Sadaf Kanwal did not wear an outfit crafted by the 3-piece designers this year. She went with an unconventional look and chose a Nousheen Aummar Kaftan dress in sky blue. While the dress is completely plain, the minimal lace embellishments with haute cuts makes it look super gorgeous.

    Nadia Hussain

Isn’t the entire family giving us major goals? I mean, look at all the smiles. Moreover, I am totally in love with the color coordination and how each member is carrying the look so gracefully. Most celebrities decided to keep the colors dull, cool and breezy. However, Nadia Hussain and the family went with a bright red palate paired with beige and white. Again, I am totally in love with this picture!

Best Beaches Of Pakistan You Must Visit!

    0

Pakistan possesses a very diverse and scenic topography. You’ve got cold mountain ranges, forests, plains, wetlands, plateaus, deserts and of course a long coastline. Pakistan has it’s coastline at the South of the country and covers around a thousand kilometers. It is usually split into five parts; Gwadar Coast, Lasbela Coast, Karachi Coast, Thatta Coast and Rann Of Kutch. This long coastline touches the Iranian border near Gwadar in the West and reaches up to Sir Creek in the East. Apart from two coasts which have major seaports, the coastline is generally very less populated. Nonetheless, small fishing villages appear sporadically.

However, due to lack of modern living conveniences, the settlements have not yet disturbed the natural order of things at most beaches. This creates unique tourism opportunities in the country. Beach tourism fused with serenity is a global rarity. Here is a list of some unique beaches in Pakistan. This list includes beaches that still require active development. However, these beaches have immense potential for tourism given a push in the right direction.

    Clifton Beach – Karachi

Clifton beach has to be the most crowded beach of Pakistan. Commonly known as “Seaview”, this beach is a commercial hub by itself. A robust and an ever-growing residential area surrounds the beach, which makes Clifton beach one of the most accessible and developed beaches of Pakistan. Unlike other beaches in Pakistan which require a proper planning and a designated day for your beach visit, Clifton beach strips you of all those requirements and gives you the opportunity to just go to the beach, have fun and come back.

Like most beaches in Pakistan, traditional beach activities like camel and horseback riding, kite flying and beach buggies are obviously very easily accessible from this beach. Apart from these, visitors also have the option to visit A.K.Khan Bin Qasim Park and Beach View Park. A national monument by the name of “Nishan e Pakistan” is also located right next to the A.K.Khan Park. Bahria Town Icon (The tallest building of Pakistan) is also being erected right next to the beach and it will be a sight to behold once finished.

There are many nearby restaurants and cafes where you can dine and unwind after a physically taxing picnic day. You have many options of malls and shops to spend whatever energy and money you have left.

    Cape Mount Beach – Karachi

Originally named Cape Monze, Cape Mount is in fact, a headland that connects Karachi’s mainland to the Arabian Sea.  It is located at Karachi’s South West boundary. Since it is far away from the metropolitan city, the drive to the beautiful picnic point is simply stunning. To get to Cape Mount beach, you need to drive through a network of beaches. These beaches (including Hawk’s bay and French beach to name a few) connect to the city of Karachi. The beach is, as intended by nature  and provides an exquisite location for beach activities.

Regular and traditional beach activities such as camel and horseback riding, beach buggies and ATV racing are easily available at the beach. Apart from that, some sensational boating opportunities are also available. The water is very clear at this beach. It supports a healthy ecosystem for a number of species of plants, reptiles, fish and marine mammals. If you are in luck, you will be able to witness turtles shoring for nesting season, pods of dolphins swimming alongside your boat or even whales if you dare to venture towards deep sea water.

    Astola Island – Balochistan

Astola Island is also known as Jezira Haft Talar or Island of the Seven Hills. It is an island near the coast of Pasni. Astola is Pakistan’s largest offshore island. The island is more or less uninhabited since the only access to the island is via a 5 hour long motorboat ride. Perhaps, this is the very reason that beauty and tranquility of the island is intact. In fact, Astola is declared as the first Marine Protected Area of Pakistan.

Apart from clean and calm waters, the island offers a network of caves and crevices for extreme sports enthusiasts. Cliffs on the Northern end of the island also provide great opportunities and locations for cliff diving as well. A government installed lighthouse and a mosque dedicated to a Sufi saint also occupy the island. The island hosts a variety of species of sea turtles and breeding water birds,

    Ormara Turtle Beaches – Balochistan

Ormara is a small port town located at the coast of Balochistan. The drive to Ormara is a scenic journey in itself as it covers a wide array of landscape on the National Coastal Highway. The beach (also known as hammerhead beach due to its shape as seen from aerial view) is sandy and spread roughly 10 kilometers wide. There is a naval base nearby hence, the maintenance of the beaches is top notch.

These beaches are specifically famous for being one of the largest nesting grounds for a variety of species of sea turtles. This area is protected by government as a Ramsar site (protected wetlands). Hence, the secluded surroundings with clear and calm waters provide the perfect conditions for the turtles to arrive during their nesting seasons like clockwork.  Witnessing turtles nest on a beach is a unique experience which connects you with nature and makes up for amazing photos. Apart from that, surfing, guided snorkeling and scuba diving facilities are also available near the beach.

    0

The geographical topography and location of Pakistan is such that the land has seen rise and fall of multiple civilizations and empires over centuries. Consequently, there are above 70 languages which are spoken in major areas of the country. Each region and language brings its own color to the palette.  This is the very reason why Pakistan is so rich and diverse in culture and tradition. Culture, festivals and traditions are you usually accompanied by one more attribute.

Folklore and Myths; a collection of stories and customs passed down through generations. These legendary tales usually involve exaggerateds romance, paranormal phenomenon, supernatural creatures and immense bravery and valor.

With the release of The Legend of Maula Jutt in 2022; there is no doubt that Pakistani cinema is very capable of producing top notch fantastic period films. On top of that, there is a plethora of spectacular stories to choose from. All of which are based in locations within Pakistan. Hence, there is no harm in imagining some of the greatest legends of Pakistan turn into blockbuster films. Here is a list of three epic Pakistani myths worthy of big budget commercial film productions.

The Legend of the Fairy of Lake Saif ul Mulook

Lake Saif ul Mulook is a little North of Kaghan Valley. It is extremely picturesque and attracts tourists almost throughout the year. Interestingly, it attracts tourists for its scenic beauty and commercial activities nearby. Hence, we have sniffed a legendary fairy tale associated with the lake that begs to be made a movie out of.

The legend of the lake provides with just the right ingredients for a fantastic romantic movie. It revolves around an Egyptian prince who envisions the love of his life in a pendant which was gifted to him. He becomes obsessed with the vision. He falls in love with the lady in his vision and decides to find her.

There begins the tale of our hero who takes on a perilous journey from Egypt to the hostile mountainous pathways of the Himalayan mountain range in search of his love. He reaches Lake Saif Ul Mulook and instantly recognizes the place from his visions and settles there to look for his love. He discovers a magic ring near the lake that gives him magical powers and the services of a genie. The genie informs the prince that the lady he sees in his visions is a fairy who lives in Kohistan under a very strict rule of giants. Of course, the two lovers eventually meet and their love blossoms almost immediately as the fairy reveals that she had seen the Egyptian prince in her visions as well.

An escape from the land of giants in true action-adventure fashion. and a true love’s kiss turns the fairy into a mortal. The two live happily ever after. Such an amazing adventure with truly a happy ending!

Mum Of Koh e Murdar (Murda Pahari)

This story dates back to the time of colonial rule over the sub-continent. Koh e Murdar is a peak near Quetta and has a legend that has a scary horror movie written all over it.

The myth begins when a “Sphinx” like creature (popularly known as Mum). She is spotted near the outskirts of Quetta. It was believed to have a head of a woman and the body of a lion. It is reported to have been seen walking on both two legs and four legs.

At first, the sightings seemed exciting but slowly and surely things took a much darker turn. Like any man eating animal, “Mum” started appearing near settlements quickly followed by missing cattle and other farm animals. Very soon, people began to vanish as well. Travelers passing through or near the city of Quetta began to go missing. Often found later in pieces more than one.

The horror reached its peak when people started following self imposed curfews. None would venture outside their houses after dark.  In fact, people would go about their daily chores in large companies as well.

Eventually, Mum made the grave mistake of attacking one of the military personnel who were stationed near Quetta. The legend says that it was a British army officer who the Mum chose as its victim. The officer remained calm while the creature carried him into its lair located in a cave on Murda Pahari. The officer had the presence of mind to leave behind a trail of papers he ripped from a diary he was carrying at the time. The next day, his company sent out a search and rescue mission. They soon picked up the trail and reached Mum’s lair. They found their superior officer alive but not well. He informed the troops that the creature is not in the cave at the moment and that they should stake-out until it comes back.

    Totally Movie Worthy

That’s exactly what happened and after a bloody and gory battle, the troops were victorious. As a story for a movie, it has everything an eerie horror flick needs. It has a supernatural creature, eerie dry mountains and trees in the surrounding, heroism and on top of all that; an opportunity to cast a “gora” as an action lead in a Pakistani film.

    Layak Tchoor of Kashmir

Kashmir is yet another area of Pakistan full of scenic topography. While many other legends and folklore have surfaced from time to time, the legend of Layak Tchoor is interesting to say the least. In a nutshell, you could call Layak Tchoor the Robin Hood of Kashmir. He would steal from the rich and distribute to the poor. He would do so in a unique fashion. Moreover he would cover himself in oil before entering the premises of the rich. This would enable him to slip through the hands of this tales’ antagonists if such a situation arose.

Kashmir is beautiful and has so many natural resources. Consequently, it has almost always attracted greedy, corrupt and powerful people which made life miserable for the natives. In times of peril, grief and financial agitation, antics such as those of Layak Tchoor would cheer people up and give them hope.

Whatever details are available on this legendary street smart character; they all point to one thing for sure. This is an adventure film for the masses. Imagine amalgamating Alladin, Prince Of Persia and Assasin’s Creed into one character who chooses to apply his mind and physics to the welfare of the community around him.

5 Large Carnivores Found In the Wild in Pakistan

    0

Pakistan’s geography is very diverse. It consists of coasts in the South, deserts, plateaus and highlands in the west, plains, hills and wetlands in the East. And of course, the world famous Northern highlands and mountain ranges. The country also experiences a wide variety of seasons throughout the year. This results in ideal natural conditions for a huge variety of flora and fauna to thrive. Birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and marine life have enjoyed perfect habitats in Pakistan for a very long time.

Quite often, the wildlife of the country gets ignored by natives and tourists alike. This might be due to poor accessibility to many areas of the country. It could be the country’s political instability and security issues that attract attention first; or just the lack of initiatives to promote conservation and celebration of wildlife and nature.  Pakistan has a plethora of breathtaking specimens of the natural world. Here is a list of 5 large carnivores found in the wild in Pakistan.

    Snow Leopard

High chances of spotting in: Chitral, Hunza Nagar, Ghanche

The Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia) is definitely the crown jewel of Pakistan’s wildlife. In Pakistan, it can be found in the rugged mountain ranges of Hindu Kush, The Pamirs, The Karakoram and The Himalayas spanning its natural habitat to around 80,000 square kilometers. They prefer living at elevations above 3000m where the weather is cold and the cliffs are steep. It is extremely well adapted to thrive in its cold, rough and rocky habitat. Its thick fur keeps it warm while its paws are shaped and act as snow shoes. The long and thick tail helps it balance during its long jumps or high altitude acrobats to catch its prey. Snow Leopard’s diet includes small rodents and game birds. However, its main diet and large prey includes Markhor, Marco Polo Sheep, The Himalayan Ibex, Blue Sheep, Musk Deer and domestic cattle.

This species was declared rare in the early 70’s. Ever since then, the local conservation agencies along with the help of the local population have worked together to make the habitat safe for the majestic creature. The total population of The Snow Leopard in Pakistan is just above four hundred. It might not be enough but it is just over ten percent of the world Snow Leopard population.

    Himalayan Brown Bear

High chances of spotting in: Deosai

The Himalayan Brown Bear (Ursus Arctos Isabellinus) also comes from the Himalayan, Hindu Kush and Karakoram mountain ranges. However, the Himalayan Brown Bear prefers plains, highlands and forests. The Himalayan Brown Bear is the largest mammal of the region. The males reach up to almost 7 feet in length.

They are omnivorous animals. This means their diet consists of both meats and greens. Although, the Himalayan Brown Bear is equipped with everything for it to be classified as an immensely powerful, top of the food chain predator, its staple diet includes a variety of nuts, berries, mature leaves and grass. The bears in Pakistan are also fond of hunting long tailed marmots, goats and sheep.

The Himalayan Brown Bear population had been thriving in Pakistan. However, it has been dwindling in recent years largely due to shrinkage of their natural habitat and warmer temperatures. Deforestation for agriculture and urban development is robbing this magnificent creature of its habitat at an alarming rate.

    Mugger Crocodile

High chances of spotting in: Nara Valley, Sindh

The Mugger Crocodile (Crocodylus Palustris) is mainly found in the wetlands of Sindh where it dwells in rivers, canals, lakes, marshes and other water bodies. However, the species truly thrives in the Nara Valley which is a network of more than 200 water bodies including a canal. It is a freshwater crocodile which is a powerful swimmer in habit of swimming against strong currents. Moreover it uses its tail and hind legs to get the speed and direction it wants. It can reach speeds of up to fourteen kilometers on land as well.

Its huge mouth contains more than 60 teeth that help it achieve a bite force of 1600lb and above. Adult Mugger Crocodiles can reach lengths up to sixteen feet which means they are a medium sized crocodile. However, it makes up for the small size by its acute senses including intelligence. The crocodile uses “tools and techniques” to trap and hunt birds who are looking for twigs and sticks during the nesting season.

The Mugger Crocodile usually preys upon fish, snakes, turtles, otters and other unfortunate animals that might feel a bit thirsty. They also scavenge on dead animals on land and on the river bed acting as one of the cleaning agents of running water bodies. Like all other animals, The Mugger Crocodile also faces threats in the form of urban and agricultural expansion.

    Grey Wolf

High chances of spotting in: Chitral, Kumrat

The Grey Wolf (Canis Lupus ) is the largest wild canid in Pakistan. Two sub species of the Grey Wolf are found in Pakistan. The Tibetan Wolf rules the Northern Mountain ranges whereas the Indian Wolf plays warden to the deserts of Sindh and the plateaus of Baluchistan.

The Grey Wolf is built for endurance.  It withstands harsh climates and rises as an apex predator in lands where not many see opportunity. The Grey Wolf lives in large packs and can withstand long chases for prey as a coordinated effort. However, research has shown that the Grey Wolf in Pakistan relies heavily on domestic animals like goat, sheep and cattle. While this may be a result of expansion of the human world, the eventual consequence is a declining population of the wolf. Conflicts with humans over territory and resources are a large contributor.

    Striped Hyena

High chances of spotting in: Krithar, Quetta

The Striped Hyena (Hyaena Hyaena) is a rarity. On top of that, this specialized scavenger only emerges in pitch black darkness; spotting a Striped Hyena is no casual feat. They are usually found around the Kirthar mountain ranges in Sindh or on the outskirts of Quetta. The Striped Hyena is mostly a solitary animal unless living in pairs or a very small family group at the most. Unlike their loud cousins from Africa, The Striped Hyena’s vocalizations are also limited.

The Striped Hyena will scavenge on almost anything and will use fruits, insects and hunting of small rodents and other small mammals as an alternate. Since it prefers solace, it usually avoids conflict with humans and any other animals as well.

5 Greatest Batsmen Pakistan Has Ever Produced till Now

    0

Pakistan is one of the most important teams in World Cricket. The team has given their country the trophies of all major world tournaments at least once. That is due to the immense pool of talent available in Pakistan, with the knack and will to play the game. A robust domestic cricket setup and a never ending pool of emerging and exciting sportsmen is the perfect recipe for Pakistan to display top quality athletes in international competitions. These players not only win for their country, but make great contributions in improving the quality of the game itself as well.

Focusing only on batsmen, Pakistan has given the game more than a few legends of the game. This is in no-way a comparison or a ranking, but a tribute to the Pakistani batsmen we think have made a long lasting impact on the game over the years.

    Javed Miandad

Javed Miandad is dubbed as the greatest batsmen Pakistan has ever produced by ESPNcricinfo. He enjoyed a long career spanning over 20 years (from 1975 to 1996). He was generally known for his aggressive batting and on-field display. During his tenure as a player, he captained the side during numerous spells. He had great situational awareness. Parallel to that, an unorthodox mindset allowed him to come up with strategies the opponents simply could not read.

Miandad had a Test average of 52.6 and an ODI average of 41.7. Stats like these were a goldmine back then. While Miandad has given us many memorable moments on the field. The most memorable moment however, was when he hit a six on the last ball against India at Sharjah in 1986. Javed Miandad also rendered his services as coach for Pakistan team in three different spells. Miandad is still widely respected by his peers and looked up to by his juniors and the current playing teams. He is also an ICC Cricket Hall of Famer.

    Younis Khan

Younis Khan is Pakistan’s most successful test batsman to date. In fact, he is widely regarded as one of the best middle-order batsmen to have played test cricket in general. He enjoyed a 17-year long career during which he captained the side in different spells in all three formats of the game as well.

With the bat, he was a beast. He is still the only Pakistani batsman to have crossed the 10,000 runs mark. These include 34 centuries and 33 fifties. These centuries include 6 double centuries. Younis Khan is only the third Pakistani batsman ever to score a triple century. He did so against Sri Lanka in 2009. He is the only Pakistani batsman ever to score a century against every Test playing nation. Moreover, he also holds the unique record of scoring these centuries in all eleven test match hosting countries.

As a captain, the most memorable moment has to be when he led Pakistan to their first T20i world cup trophy win in 2009.

    Inzimam Ul Haq

“Inzi” joined the Pakistani national side in 1991. During his career, he rose to become one of the most prominent and leading run scorers for the team. Despite him being very tall (6 ft. 3”), Inzi had the ability low cut shots, sweeps and reverse sweeps. This helped him carve his own unique stature in world cricket. Till now, he is the only Pakistani batsman to have scored 20,000 international runs. While his batting averages (Test average of 49.6 and ODI average of 39.53) might not reflect it, he was a solid middle order batsman. A wall in the midst of the innings for the opponents to face. He had the ability to change gears from a calm and smooth innings to a total show of fireworks and batting prowess on a moment’s notice. There are numerous victories that Pakistan got from the blade of his bat.

Inzi has also captained the Pakistani side from 2003 to 2007 with various achievements under his belt as a captain as well.

    Saeed Anwar

Anwar has played some really memorable innings. Who could forget his 194 runs against India. There was a time when there was an unannounced competition between Sachin Tendulkar and Saeed Anwar for most centuries in ODIs. Fiery, clinical and calculated; Anwar had written legend all over him until he had to retire from International Cricket due to personal reasons.

    Babar Azam

The only player in our list who is currently playing international cricket across all formats. He is also the current Pakistan team’s captain in all three formats as well. Babar made his international debut in 2015. Ever since then, Azam has only risen up. At the moment, he is the only international player to have ranked amongst top 5 batsmen across all three formats of the game. He is ranked number 1 batsman in ODIs, number 2 in tests and number 4 in T20Is currently. It looks like it is a legendary career in the making. He is still young and has a long way to go.

Dubbed by many as “The Poet”, Babar has gained a lot of attention for his batting prowess in a very short time. We have nothing but best wishes for the man’s remaining career.

5 International Movies to Watch in Cinemas in Pakistan In 2023

    0

2022 marked as the first year after the horrible pandemic. Public spaces were finally open for public. Like all markets, parks and other public places, cinemas started to show signs of life. Waiting for this very moment were many film studios who were holding on to big projects. They wanted to showcase their products properly in cinemas and even faced losses due to this very reason.

However, this came up as an opportunity for avid film watching audience. They were in for a year filled with treats. We saw visual spectacles like Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water and Babylon. Epic tales like The Northman, Nope and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio made their way to the big screen and simply left their audiences in awe. Even superhero genre took a new turn with Matt Reeves’s take on The Batman.

When you’ve seen films like the ones mentioned above and more in cinemas within a year, you can only expect the filmmakers to take it up a notch during the current year.

Here is a list of 5 international movies that you must watch in cinemas in 2023.

    65

65 follows an astronaut’s (Adam Driver) journey for survival on an unknown planet where he crash lands. Seems like a simple movie, no? Wrong! Driver’s character discovers that he has crash landed nowhere else but Earth; only 65 million years ago.

Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), 65 is a movie dinosaur-enthusiasts have been longing for; for a very long time. The trailer for the movie has all the elements of a jump scare thriller with a huge prehistoric pinch of dinosaurs. It just simply looks refreshing to see these huge creatures (with spectacular CGI) in a film independent of franchises like Jurassic Park, Jurassic World or The Monsterverse. In no way, do we expect these dinos to be the perfect anatomic representations of the real-life creatures.

However, expectations from the film are still very high with Adam Driver as the lead surviving on a planet ruled by the dinosaurs. The film will hopefully release in the 3rd week of March 2023 in Pakistan.

Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One

We bet; even Tom Cruise could not have probably imagined that Mission: Impossible would spring out to be such a huge film franchise. It started off as a one-off film based on and in continuity of a television series of the same name. Here we are, 26 years and 6 films later looking forward to another one of Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) epic global disaster saving adventures. The film stars Tom Cruise (of course) with the usual suspects Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Rebecca Ferguson.

The trailer starts off with the iconic Mission: Impossible theme leading into a voice-over convincing Ethan Hunt to choose a side between good and bad for all times to come. The voice-over is coupled with visuals of some insane action sequences and fantastic stunt choreography including “the biggest stunt in cinema history” to look forward to. The film is currently scheduled to be released during July 2023 worldwide.

    John Wick: Chapter 4

2014’s John Wick saw Keanu Reeves climb back into the mainstream. It was a non-stop action movie focusing on an elite assassin looking for peace and retirement after he loses his wife to a fatal illness. We wouldn’t get a movie if he wasn’t forced out of retirement now, would we?

March 2023 will see the fourth installment of the John Wick film series being released for global audiences. The plot seems fairly simple and not to our surprise, a bit repetitive. However, we don’t think that audiences are looking for complex plots and mind bending slow burns when they think of John Wick. John Wick films have always delivered on what their trailers have promised. A neo-noir backdrop coupled with magnificent stunts and uncontrollable action sequences.

The film stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Bill Skarsgard amongst others. We highly recommend you to watch this film in the cinemas if you have the stomach for such a loud action packed film.

    Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Just like Robert Downey Jr’s casting elevated the Iron-man to a whole new level. The feel good screenplay and relatable back story of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd)in the first Ant-man film gained a lot of audience attention and praise as well.

Ant-man’s third standalone film has to be the most important superhero film this year. Moreover, not only is it jump starting the next phase of The Marvel Cinematic Universe; it is also going to be a visual spectacle. This film will take the audiences to a trip of the quantum realm with the Ant-man and Wasp along with a few other characters. Naturally, the film will be packed with impressive visual effects. However, that is not the only thing to look forward to as the film will introduce “Kang The Conqueror” played by Jonathan Majors.

The trailer shows exactly what you’d expect from such a film’s trailer. It makes the viewer feel an unnerving sense of helplessness, confusion and a huge and imminent threat. The film releases on 17th February (My Birthday) and I couldn’t have asked for a better gift from the MCU than this!

    The Little Mermaid

This late May 2023 release is probably the most anticipated kid-friendly film of the year. It is a live-action remake of the original tale from 1837 while borrowing visual cues from the 1989 animated version. The film has sparked a wave of excitement unlike any other on our list. That is mainly due to the ability of this story to have passed down from generation to generation for almost over two centuries.

Relatable nostalgic content aided with breathtaking visuals (as the trailer suggests) is a recipe for a box office triumph. It will be very interesting to see a live-action adaptation of a tale set under the sea. The trailer promises it to be a 5 star film for the family. The production quality looks and sounds top-notch.

The film will star Halle Bailey as Ariel. Moreover Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. We highly recommend you to watch this fairy tale come to life in the cinemas. Especially with your little ones or just as a guilty pleasure for the sake of nostalgia.

5 Greatest Bowlers Pakistan Has Ever Produced till Now

    0

Without a doubt, Pakistan Cricket team’s bowling attack has always been the source of its strength. It has always had a world class battery of fiery pacers. Parallel to that, an arsenal of spinners with masterful wizardry. We truly doubt if there ever has been a World XI or Asia XI team without the inclusion of a few Pakistani bowlers. It seems as if the art is nature’s gift to the nation. Pakistanis have crafted techniques of bowling that perplex batsmen the world over. Be it the “Reverse Swing” in pace bowling or the “Doosra” in spin bowling. Pakistan just churns out a top quality innovative bowler one after the other; hungry for wickets.

While there are so many names that come to mind when you think of the greats of Pakistani bowling, here is a list of 5 of the greatest bowlers Pakistan has ever produced till now. This list is devoid of any comparison or ranking.

    Wasim Akram

Better known as the “Sultan of Swing”, Wasim Akram is perhaps, the best left arm pacer to have ever played the game. He debuted for the national side in 1984 and enjoyed a long career until it ended in the year 2003. During this time period, he had numerous spells of captaincy as well.

His ability to swing the ball in the later stages of the innings set him apart from everyone else. He is regarded as one of the founders of “reverse swing” bowling. He also had the ability to generate extra pace with bounce at will. Akram was the supreme commander of the ball when he bowled. He holds the record of a whopping 881 wickets in List A cricket. He also holds the 2nd place for most wickets by any bowler in ODIs with 502 wickets.

His on-field presence was dominating to say the least. So when we saw an out swinging beauty missing the edge of the blade, we surely got opportunities for entertaining lip reading as well. A force to be reckoned with. Well respected and highly regarded by the cricketing community all over the world.

    Waqar Younis

It was just not in the cards for Pakistan’s opponents for some time. While Wasim Akram was bowling from one end, another wicket hungry beast of a pacer would bowl from the other. Waqar Younis! The right arm toe-crushing fast bowler would dominate the batsmen with sheer pace at times. His iconic Yorkers would often send the stumps flying in the air! What a delightful sight it used to be! Waqar took 373 wickets in test matches and 416 wickets in One Day Internationals with averages of below 24 in both formats. These are insane stats for a career spanning over 14 years (1989-2003).

Like his bowling partner, his on-field presence was aggressive. His long run up would build such a hype with the crowds that it seemed as if every delivery is a wicket taker. In fact, it is now known that the Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt was also a fan of Waqar Younis and his sprint-esque run up.

    Saqlain Mushtaq

While Pakistan is generally known for producing top quality pacers, we have a habit of producing wizards as well. Wizards like Abdul Qadir, Mushtaq Ahmed and Danish Kaneria. From amongst these wizards rose an absolutely brutal off spinning sorcerer; Saqlain Mushtaq.

“Saqi”’s career was relatively short and lasted for 9 years (1995-2004). During this time period, he played 49 test matches and 169 one day international matches. He took 208 test wickets and 288 wickets in one day internationals. Saqlain’s understanding of his craft was at another level altogether. He is credited to having invented the “doosra” and “teesra” balls. His ability to squeeze the opponent’s batting was unparalleled. He would force the batsmen to make mistakes like no one else. However, he had to retire early due to injuries to his spinning fingers and surgeries for knees.

    Imran Khan

Easily, the most famous cricketer to have played for Pakistan. He is also considered one of the greatest legends of the game. Imran Khan was a package unlike any other before him. A great strategic mind as a captain, a calculated batsman and an extremely fierce bowler. This ICC hall of famer played cricket for the Pakistani cricket team from 1971 to 1992. During this time, he showcased fierce bouncers, fiery in swingers and baffling out swingers at speeds North of 85 miles per hour.

Khan started off as a medium pacer but worked hard during his career and adjust his body to become an out and out fast bowler. He took 362 test wickets and 182 One Day International wickets. Obviously his most memorable ball was the last ball he bowled in his cricketing career. The wicket taking delivery that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup Final for Pakistan. There is no shortage of accolades or praises for this man as a cricketer.

    Muhammad Asif/Saeed Ajmal

We understand that the careers of these two athletes have been tainted with controversies but there is absolutely no harm in admitting a fact that both these gentlemen knew how to make the ball dance to their tune.

Muhammad Asif stayed a part of the national side for a very brief period of 5 years before he was banned to play for seven years and then eventually banned to play for life. Before all this drama, this master of the ball showed us the potential he had with the smoothest possible swinging wicket taking deliveries ever. He was just a class apart. In his brief career, he perplexed batsmen of the highest caliber. He already bowled and behaved like a seasoned veteran on the field. Too bad, he made horrible choices off the field.

Saeed Ajmal is another great player we lost too early due to off-field controversies. Ajmal was in ways, a protégé of Saqlain Mushtaq. An avid bowler of the “doosra”, Ajmal was a wicket taking machine. In his short career, he made loud statements. Won matches single handedly out of nowhere. Like his mentor, he had learned the ability to kill the flow of runs of the opponent. Unfortunately, he was also banned for life as his bowling action was found to be exceeding the allowed 15 degrees of the regulations.

5 Reasons Why You Should Watch The Legend Of Maula Jutt

    0

Pakistan’s cinema industry has been struggling to find its feet since a very long time. Saying that doesn’t take away anything away from the brilliant work that many filmmakers have put forward till now.

Films made in Pakistan are regularly screened at International Film Festivals. In fact, films like Saawan, Sandstorm (Mulaqat) and Joyland have won international awards as well. However, Pakistani audiences had never witnessed anything like The Legend Of Maula Jatt before.

It is definitely a film that Curryflow recommends you to watch in a theatre and here are 5 reasons why!

    Honoring the Original Story

It is true that Director and Writer Bilal Lashari had announced that the film will not be a remake or a sequel to the original 1979 cult classic “Maula Jatt”. The Legend Of Maula Jatt embraces the spirit of the original with the utmost respect. While it derives a few catchphrases and a general trajectory from the original script, The Legend Of Maula Jatt dives deeper into character building developing a greater impact of cause and effect. Despite this, the simplicity of the core of the original story remains intact. If you don’t believe us, read what Mustafa Qureshi had to say about The Legend Of Maula Jatt:

“I would like to thank Ammara Hikmat and BIlal Lashari who have paid a great tribute to Sultan Rahi, Myself and the crew of Maula Jatt in such an epic way. When I saw the trailer for this film, I recalled that our film (Maula Jatt, 1979) was made with a very small budget but the audiences made it a huge box office hit. I have heard that this film (The Legend Of Maula Jatt) was made on a huge budget and I sincerely pray that it makes even greater profits than us.”

    Cinematography

Before we get down to the nitty gritty of this film, let’s take a moment to appreciate the absolutely stunning cinematography that makes this film a visual feast. Bilal Lashari himself did the Cinematography and what a marvelous job he has done. You can truly feel that the visuals were imagined way before the film ever began production.

It’s not just visual shooting that’s great (which, it obviously is) but the color grading and the camera angles. Everything is spot on! The cinematography really sets the tone for the entire film as it truly paints a simple story on a magical canvas resulting in this glamorous epic. Who would have thought that a tale set in rural Punjab during “the old times” would be glamorous?

    Casting & Acting

Many people were skeptical when the casting was announced for the film. It was hard to imagine Fawad Khan as Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt. Both characters are raw and ready to get dirty. However, both the actors enjoy their fame under almost completely opposite personas. Despite this, all skeptics went mute as soon as the film released.

Not only the lead men, but the entire cast shone at their best in this film. It shows that hard work had been put in as not only is this a film based in a regional language (not spoken regularly by the cast), but also set on a rural horizon. This means that they had to adopt a language, mannerisms and even go through physical training and weight changes for this film.

    The Amazing Characters

Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt has probably been the most talked about actor from the film for his complete immersion in Noori Natt’s character. Having said that, Humaima Malick as Daaro portrays a female antagonist unlike anything ever witnessed by Pakistani audiences. Bold and in control, she controls the audience whenever she takes the spotlight including the scene where she decapitates an opponent.

Faris Shafi’s portrayal of Mooda provides the ideal blend of comedic relief and an emotional attachment to the protagonist. Gohar Rasheed took the little known character of Makkha Natt to heights never seen before. Gohar communicates perfectly the vile nature of the character while completely captivating the audience. Nayyar Ejaz, Babar Ali, Resham, Ali Azmat and Mahira Khan set very well in their roles as well.

Cast members are a mixture of veterans, theatre trained actors and TV experienced actors. All did a fantastic job making this an extremely memorable film.

    Score

It is very rare to watch a Lollywood film and be mesmerized by the score. Clearly, this area requires much development in the Pakistani industry altogether. However, The Legend Of Maula Jatt’s score operates at an entirely different level. Sarmad Ghafoor is the composer. Interestingly, he is one of the most sought out Pakistani music producers today. He has an immense experience in the music industry and is very well respected among peers as well. Moreover, he has enjoyed almost two decades of mainstream success in Pakistan including being pivotal in launching Atif Aslam’s career to an ideal start.

The score is extremely gells well with the visuals. It perfectly complements the story and the moods of scenes. There are moments of absolute subtle genius that you’ll pick up during your viewing. Furthermore, the intensity is spot on during fight sequences and moments of passion and emotion. The score for this film is definitely an important component in tying up this beautiful piece of cinema.

    Action Choreography

One of the first things that stood out to the general audiences after the trailer was released was how Hollywood-esque the action sequences seemed. It now reveals that the action choreography team included human resources from Hollywood as well. An experienced team of stunt coordinators and performers were on board for this film. People who have worked on huge Hollywood films like John Wick 3, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Edge of Tomorrow, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Wonder Woman: 1984. Of course, these guys did not disappoint. All action sequences are intense and seem extremely real. We really can’t say if the portrayal of Punjabi warfare from the “old times” is accurate or not. However, we can tell you for sure that it’s really cool! Kudos to the team on the editing panel for smooth cuts as well.

11 Best Pizza Parlors in Lahore

    0

Lahore is historically one of the centers of literature, culture, heritage and arts. It’s no surprise that the city offers a very wide array of cuisines and culinary masterpieces.

Indeed, one of the food items Lahoris have made their own is ‘Pizza’. From the poshest commercial areas to the far-flung housing societies on the edge of the city, pizza is available EVERYWHERE! Here is a list of 11 best pizza parlors in Lahore.

    Rina’s Kitchenette

If rustic Italian thin crust brings water in your mouth, Rina’s Kitchenette is the perfect place for you. Interestingly, Rina’s offers a cool variety of flavors, keeping the crust thin and crispy in all. You can choose from the classic Margherita, Porcini, Into the woods, Pepperoni Miele Caldo, Caramelized onions and Aubergines and an amazing fish flavor named Salmon like me.

To be honest, I totally dig Rina’s pizzas. Firstly because of the out-of-this-world flavor. Secondly, because you just cannot have one slice! The prices are budget friendly considering the unique flavor and style. Personally, I love into the woods because of the globs of cream cheese that just melt in your mouth.

    Sweet Affairs

Sweet Affairs offers a unique taste in their pizzas. Interestingly, the ‘brick oven’ baked concept literally takes the whole pizza experience right up to the sky! The flawlessly charred slices are topped with your favorite marinated chicken and just the precise amount of cheese. You can choose from Mexicano and spicy ranch for a spice blast, Fresh Garden and 4 cheese for vegetarians and then options like pepperoni, Catadina and Mint Tandoori are also available.

If you must ask, Sweet Affairs also bids rather Pakistani/desi style toppings. Hence, if you are in for a fusion treat, this pizza parlor is ideal for you.

    Cosa Nostra

Cosa Nostra is a trendy, hip place for youngsters to hang out and have a delicious meal at. While everything they offer is totally scrumptious, obviously including their pizzas. Their Italian recipes are perfect and they cater to all sorts of foodies. Select white, whole wheat or gluten for the dough while you have a plethora of options for your toppings.

Pizza Rustica, Tres Formaggi, Frutti Della Terra, Salamella and Primavera are just a few from the list. They play with cheese flavors including ricotta, Emmental, mozzarella while the rest of the city only offers cheddar. So here’s the reason for the perfect bite you are missing out on. Moreover, as for the damage, their pricing is set for teenagers and is totally affordable.

    Meat the Cheese

Meat the Cheese is a new find for me and what an amazing find is it! I mean, everything on the menu is superb. Mainly, I fell in love with their cheese because it is not the standard Lahori cheddar cheese mixed with mozzarella. The way it pulls but melts at the same time is heavenly.

Meat the Cheese has an amazing menu for all age groups. Since we are talking about pizzas, ill strictly stick to the topic. Interestingly, my daughters fell in love with the ‘Aunt Margherita’. It includes 4 different types of cheese and I kid you not; its out of this world. Since the brand also uses ricotta and blue cheese, the taste is bound to be supreme. They have 8 magical flavors to offer you guys. This place should be on your list for sure.

    L’ amour

L’ amour is another awesome spot that recently opened up. Right under Cue cinemas, this restaurant provides an indoor as well as an outdoor seating. Pizzas are a new addition to their menu. They are currently offering 7 different flavors at the moment. The thin crust is chewy and their dough is awesome. Fried chicken and hot honey is the best thing you will have on your pizza!

    Pantry

Again, if you desire something sophisticated in your pizza, the Pantry Lahore by Polo Lounge is the right answer. The wood-fired oven smells divine and the freshly baked pizzas coming out of it are even better. Indeed, The Pantry brings triumph to your taste buds through a wide variety of flavors. From thin crust to square pies to perfect Neapolitan style treats; they’ve got it all.

Moreover, the chef fuses flavors with pine nuts, aubergines, buffalo mozerlla, chilli ricotta dressing and so much more. While it all sounds fancy, the prices are entirely affordable.

    Café Aylanto

Well, everything Aylanto serves, literally everything is super classy; whether it is the taste, the menu or the presentation. Aylanto is for the elites of Lahore. Strategically located in the heart of MM Alam, Aylanto also brings a unique style of pizza to tantalize your taste buds. Fortunately, Aylanto is the perfect place to enjoy brunch/ lunch time pizza with your colleagues in a calm, mature environment.

Known for their crispy, thin crust, Aylanto brings diverse flavors compared to other eateries. Sweet tahini and Za’ atar pizza is out of this world. Mediterranean, Buffalo Mozerlla, Formaggio and  Basil Pesto are other interesting options.

    Amavi

We surely cannot leave Amavi out of the list because it offers amazing pizzas. The new and improved crust has got its customers hooked to the taste. Moreover, flavors like house sour dough and black truffle, butter drizzle, pesto, sundried tomatoes, spinach and cheese are all  too interesting to leave out.

Indeed, the pizza toppings are unique. The prices many seem towards a steeper edge, but if you are a pizza lover, they are totally worth a try.

    Jalal Sons

Jalal Sons is the go-to place for a quick pizza fix. They bake delicious pizzas within 15 minutes of the order and you can take-away immediately. However, how I enjoy this treat is by ordering it and finishing it bite by bite in my car. Hot, fresh pizzas with melting cheese are top notch slices worth fighting for.

You can take your pick from personal size pizzas, regular 10 inch and a family size 13 inch pizza. As for the toppings, you can choose from chicken tikka, chicken fajita, chicken supreme, smoked chicken, beef supreme and even vegetarian options. Moreover, you can also choose between thick or thin crust to customize pizzas that perfectly suit you. You can find Jalal sons at 3 different locations in Lahore.

    NY 212

Located in Johar Town, on MM Alam as well as as in DHA, NY 212 is another pizzeria you need to try. NY 212 is a quick fix for your pizza craving at an odd hour. You can get it from their outlet or get the goodness delivered at your doorstep.

Interestingly, you can build your own customized pizza by choosing from the size, crust, topping and add-ons. While you can avail a personal pan at 9 inches, you can go big with a party size and get a 21 inch as well. Isn’t that cool? It sure looks pretty when you see it on the table!

The flavors are rather standard. However, if you enjoy your pizza toppings marinated in a desi spicy masala, NY 212 is the place to look for.

    Sarpinos

Sarpino’s is the king of classic desi style pizzas. If you crave a cheesy thick crust pizza with a desi touch, Sarpino’s the spot for you. Moreover, Sarpino’s offers not just chicken flavors but beef options as well. You can select your spice-meter and order accordingly.

For one, their dough is super delicious. The fresh-out-of-the-oven pizzas are aromatic, chewy and totally worth it. Equally important, Sarpino’s is on the budget-friendly side so you better check it out soon.

Pakistan is a powerhouse when it comes to generating exciting talent for cricket. Pakistan’s cricketing history is full of individuals who have the ability to single handedly snatch victory from their opponents. There is no shortage of names that come to mind when thinking along those lines.  Pakistan has been producing A class talent in all departments of the game since decades now.

It has only been relatively recent since Pakistan has started to produce great women cricketers as well. Clinical with the ball and bat, these women are to be feared by their opponents on the field. Making their international debut as a team in 1997, Pakistani women are slowly creeping up the ranking system and improving their win/loss ratio. Pakistani women have had the privilege of holding multiple world records in Cricket as well.

Here are 5 women cricketers from Pakistan who have made noteworthy global impact on the game.

    Shaiza And Sharmeen Said Khan

Hailing from Karachi, these sisters were the pioneers of women’s cricket in Pakistan. While both sisters have decent cricketing records, their struggle and greatness lies in other aspects of the game. They introduced the alien idea of women in sports during extremely conservative times of their country. Not only were they met with death threats and misogyny in general, they were taken to court as well. For a brief time, it was even ruled that women are prohibited from playing sports due to religious issues.

The sisters however, faced all these objections bravely and paved the legal way for all women in Pakistan to play any sports of their choice without any fear.

Shaiza Khan remained the captain of Pakistan’s Women Cricket team from 1997 to 2004.

    Sana Mir

Sana Mir is arguably the biggest name Pakistan Women’s Cricket has produced yet. Born in Abbotabad into a military family, Mir had the opportunity to live and play in different parts of Pakistan. She made her One-Day International debut in 2005 as a bowling all-rounder.

Indeed, she has been one of the most successful captains for the side. She has led the team in one hundred and thirty seven matches. During her tenure as captain, she ranked number one in the Women’s One-Day International Bowling Rankings. Not only that, eight other players from Pakistan also made it to top International Cricket Council rankings as well.

Her deep understanding of the game led the side to many tournament wins. These included 2010 and 2014 gold medal winning performances in Asian Games. In 2012, she became the first ever woman cricketer to receive Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her services in Cricket.

Nowadays, she lends her services as a commentator with in-depth analysis and eloquence.

    Bismah Maroof

Bismah Maroof was quick to explode on the Pakistan national level at the age of 15 in the year 2006. Playing as a batting all-rounder, Maroof became the first ever Pakistani woman cricketer to complete one thousand runs in one-day internationals. She served the team as a vice captain with Sana Mir as captain for a while. After that, she was awarded the captaincy of the Pakistani Women’s Cricket team in 2013. She led the side till 2020.

Sporadic injuries have led Maroof to take a few breaks during her career. However, that has never hindered her ability to score quick runs on the field for her team. During her tenure as captain, Pakistan has won multiple tournaments including one of the only two times Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team won a tournament with a clean sweep.

Currently leading the side with a plethora of superstars, Maroof has cemented her place in the history books as a leader who leads by example. Her tenure has added formal structure and defined roles for the team and the management as well.

    Nida Dar

Born to a first-class cricketer Rashid Hassan, Dar has cricket in her blood. Known as “Lady Boom Boom” by her peers and opponents owing to the fireworks she puts on display with the bat. Dar is basically a bowling all-rounder. Her achievements with the bat have earned her a daunting nickname. However, her performance with the ball is even more impressive with match winning performances sprinkled all over her career. These include 4 five wicket hauls in T20 matches.

Representing Pakistan since 2010, Dar has become a regular in the team and has greatness written all over career. She is extremely potent with both the ball and the bat. She is definitely one of those players whose opponents dread meeting them in the field.

    Honorable Mentions

There is no shortage of great players that have retired and budding talent that is waiting to explode on the international Women’s Cricket scene. Not every woman will be able to make it to the short list of exemplary players that we have worked up. However, these current players deserve honorable mentions so that we keep an eye out for their ever improving performances as they find their way to international cricket legacy.

    1. Javeria Khan
    2. Sidra Ameen
    3. Ayesha Naseem
    4. Sidra Ameen
    5. Ghulam Fatima

5 High-End Sports Brands Manufacturing Products in Pakistan

    0

Pakistan has a rich history of culture, arts and sports. Specifically speaking about sports, Pakistan has had the privilege of being a world champion of many, in different tournaments held across the globe. Cricket, hockey, snooker and squash are some of the sports Pakistan has completely dominated in at least one era. Not only that, Pakistan is now slowly making space for itself in the manufacturing of sportswear and sports gear industries.

Multinational brands of sportswear and sports gear have traditionally manufactured their products either close to their central headquarters; or in China due to lower costs of labor. With automated technology integration in manufacturing processes and regional politics in play; brands have started to seek alternate production locations for a better balance of costs versus revenues.

Take a look at your favorite high-end sports gear brands produced in Pakistan.

    NIKE

When it comes to brands that produce sportswear and sports gear, Nike needs no introduction. Founded in the United States of America in 1964; Nike has established itself as the trendsetter. It is the go-to brand for many professional athletes around the globe spanning over an extremely wide variety of sports.

Nike stores are common in the big cities of Pakistan. However, one almost never associates these goods with pristine quality and flawlessness to be produced in Pakistan. Despite the gross assumption, Nike currently has five factories within Pakistan operating its production and shipping operations for the country and the region at large.

Interestingly, Pakistan produces a very wide variety of sports goods for Nike. These include footballs, t-shirts, knitted material, pants and shoes among others. Most of these factories export their finished products to the United States of America.

    ADIDAS

Adidas is a holding company situated in Germany. Moreover, it is probably the only brand of its category that has ever given Nike any competition whether it comes to sales, advertising or scoring the best brand ambassadors. Adidas has scores of factories and operations spread over many countries. However, a single company in Sialkot runs all the operations.

The product range manufactured within Pakistan for Adidas is very similar to that of Nike. These include footwear, clothing and sports accessories. Having said that, Adidas hoodies and fleeces made in Pakistan have particularly garnered a fanfare of their own. Apart from that, Pakistan also produces many models of Adidas shoes and gloves . They are shipped to different parts of the world. However, the crown jewel would have to be Adidas footballs made in Pakistan used in almost all FIFA world cup matches.

    CA Sports

How can we talk about manufacturing of sports equipment in Pakistan and not mention cricket equipment manufacturing giants “CA sports”?

Starting as an SME venture in 1958; this brand from Sialkot rose to unprecedented heights in the 1970s.They are the pioneers of the curved bat that is still being used today by international players around the globe. Their current lineup of brand ambassadors includes the likes of Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan, Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik among others.

While CA Sports specializes in cricket bat manufacturing, they produce excellent cricket balls, complete cricket kits and cricket apparel including kit bags and backpacks as well,

Respected and used by top tier cricketers, CA Sports really doesn’t require active advertising. Their brand ambassadors do the job for them by using their bats on field with the unmistakable large CA logo on the bats. The company strives to innovate and prides itself of being an original Pakistani sports brand esteemed by world class athletes around the world.

    PUMA

Puma is another German origin company. It was founded in the late 1940s. An interesting fact about Puma’s origin is that the founder of Puma Rudolf Dassler was the brother of Adolf Dassler who founded Adidas. The brothers jointly created a company in 1924. After a span of 24 years, the Dassler brothers decided to split and create Puma and Adidas.

Puma specialize in athletic and casual footwear, apparel and accessories. Almost all Puma products feature the Puma logo which is distinctive and catches the eye.

If you wish to witness the ideal penned-down plots, amazing sets, melodic OSTs and perfectly character-driven series; you have come to the right place.

Here are a few eye-catching series you should definitely not miss this year.

    Wabaal

A slightly cliched series, Wabaal unravels a love story we are mostly familiar with. However, what makes the drama great are the twists that unfold later in the series. Wabaal features Sarah Khan, Meerub Ai, Shagufta Ijaz and Talha Chahour.

Sarah Khan and Merub Ali are sisters that belong to a low-middle class background. While the younger sister is grounded, the elder one desires to climb the social ladder. However, when Sarah comes across her neighbor who is grounded, self-made and hardworking, things begin to change for her.

    Habs

Habs features Ushnah Shah, Feroz Khan, Ayesha Omar, Saba Faisal and others. Interestingly, it has become one of the top favorite series in a short span of time because of its storyline. The audience is having a nostalgic moment with this series because it reminds them of old PTV dramas. Reason being the low background music and story unfolding slowly.

Firstly, the number of actors in Habs are very less. However, the writer, Ayesha Makhdoom has turned each of them into dynamic personalities that one feels drawn towards them instantly. Now, the story revolves around two people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. While the man has a traumatizing childhood, the girl has something similar to share. What makes this series interesting is how they meet, bond and fall in love.

    Bakhtawar

Bakhtawar has blown the charts with a unique storyline and amazing acting by none other than Yumna Zaidi. I mean, how can any drama be dull when you have Yumna Zaidi on board? Momina Duraid is the director while this series features Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, Ali Wasi Kazmi and more.

Unfortunately, the brother passes away due to poverty and the 3 girls must shift to Karachi to earn the lifestyle they need.

However, Bakhtawar undergoes the anti-feminist treatment and does not score a job because of the mere reason. Hence, she decides to disguise as a male figure of the society to feel respected and become privileged. While her decision takes the ideal direction in her life, the downfall begins in the long run.

The storyline is awesome, the cast is great and the acting is impeccable. You should definitely check it out.

Osmaan Khalid Butt and Sana Javed take the lead while Nadia Afgan, Shahzad Noor and Samina Ahmed follow. We should applaud the series for an outstanding cast, great direction and lighthearted storyline.

Who doesn’t enjoy a breezy series once in a while, right? Kaala Doriya unravels a similar storyline of Chupke Chupke. It features two families that don’t get along. The leading couple belongs to each family and studies in the same university. The bond between them is dicey and they enjoy teasing each other throughout the show. However, teasing leads to friendship and friendship turns into love. What follows next is something I won’t tell. Check out this series for a funny, romantic experience.

    Wehem

Moomal entertainment is known for bringing unique work on-screen for the audience to witness from time to time. Wehem is the perfect example. The well written plot takes the cake because Imran Nazir’s idea is novel.

Wehem showcases the story of a mother, a wife and an insecure woman whose reality is still a mystery. The cousins, Junaid and Eshaal are madly in love with each other. While Eshaal’s parents want to wed her off to Junaid, Junaid’s mother believes Eshaal’s father is to be blamed for her husband’s absence. Her husband went to Dubai for business and never returned.

These mysteries along with everyone’s personalities unfold very nicely and hence you should miss this thriller at all.

    Betiyaan

The lead cast includes Fatima Effendi and Fahad Sheikh while the support cast includes Osama Tahir, Qudsia Ali and Sajjad Pall. The series is a rollercoaster ride of all emotions.

Fatima plays the role of Fizza, the eldest daughter. As per the portrayed Pakistani culture, since Fizza has come of age, she needs to be married off instantly so that the ball gets rolling for the rest of the sisters. However, her suitor (Danish) eventually falls in love with her younger sister and things become complicated. Moreover, things worsen when Ayeza (the younger sister) falls in love with another man and tries to elope on her planned wedding day with Danish.

Now, should Fizza marry Danish as everyone initially planned or will it become a story of self-respect, family’s honor and more?
